The story
You won't find a sign, a street address marker, or a hostess stand on the sidewalk. To reach Himitsu—Japanese for 'secret'—you head to One Buckhead Plaza and count seven storefronts past the sushi restaurant Umi until you reach a blank exterior door. Co-owner Farshid Arshid persuaded British designer Tom Dixon to take on his first U.S. hospitality interior project here, compressing a 1,300-square-foot space into a dramatic, 60-seat, double-height lounge anchored by a 20-foot illuminated copper bar. Overhead, Dixon's molten-metal Melt pendant lamps hang in the void, facing a massive 12-by-16-foot painting by local artist Todd Murphy depicting a woman holding an airplane surrounded by swans.
The friction required to get in is deliberate. Getting a door code requires emailing hello@puraibeto.com with 'LOVE' in the subject line, though first-timers frequently discover they need an existing member or staff referral to get off the waiting list. Inside, photography is strictly banned to keep phone screens dark and preserve guest privacy. The drink program, originally co-developed with NYC mixologist Shingo Gokan, features Japanese craft cocktails paired with small bites and late-night desserts crafted by chefs Fuyuhiko and Lisa Ito of neighboring Umi.

You stand on Peachtree Road counting storefronts, push open a plain exterior door, and step into a quiet reception area scented with Tom Dixon Earth candles. Once a sliding metal door pulls back, you enter a low-lit, two-story room of leather banquettes, raw concrete, and glowing copper where barely a few dozen people sit on any given night. The no-camera rule keeps phone screens tucked away, leaving the room focused on table conversation and bar technique.
