The story
To find Repeal, you have to drop below street level into the basement of the Walker Center—the historic tower that once anchored downtown Salt Lake City's financial district. The subterranean space at 19 East 200 South previously housed Bourbon House, a staple watering hole. Rebuilt as suite B-200, the basement has stripped away the dive-bar clutter in favor of a low-lit, moody jazz lounge.
The room is run by the same team behind Prohibition, the theatrical, roaring-twenties bar further south. But where Prohibition was built to be a loud, celebratory exhale, Repeal was conceived as the quiet, deliberate inhale. The room centers around live jazz sets, craft cocktails, and shareable small plates rather than loud spectacle.
It is an intentionally dimly lit refuge beneath the grid. By pulling live music down into a stone basement beneath office towers, Repeal offers a dark, acoustic-rich hideout right in the center of downtown.
