Parisa Yoga Shala

A neighborhood movement sanctuary known for hosting acoustic sound journeys where participants lie under savasana props or float on water while surrounded by acoustic sound waves.

The story

What began in mid-2022 inside founder Parisa Shirazi Chavoya’s living room has expanded into a Southwest Milwaukee sanctuary on West Jerelyn Place and a roving circuit across roughly 12 partner venues in the metro area. Shirazi Chavoya, an educator holding a Master of Education, built the shala on a premise you rarely hear in corporate wellness studios: that personal healing, collective liberation, and neighborhood resistance are directly connected.

You won't find high-intensity cardio sequences or polished fitness branding here. The shala’s signature offerings are its acoustic sound journeys—deeply restful sessions that pair guided breathwork and reiki energy work with the physical vibrations of metal and crystal singing bowls. Depending on the venue and session type, you might spend the hour anchored beneath heavy savasana props or floating directly on water while low-frequency acoustic waves ripple through the room.

What it's like

You arrive prepared to lie completely still rather than work up a sweat. Bring warm layers or an eye pillow, settle into the floor props (or slip into the water for designated aquatic sessions), and let guided breathwork and reiki-infused bowl resonance quiet your central nervous system. Because sound journeys shift between the Jerelyn Place base and offsite venues across Milwaukee, double-check your event location on their portal before driving over.

The move: Attend an evening sound journey session to lie under savasana props while guided breathwork and reiki-infused crystal and metal bowls wash over you.
