The story
In 1985, members of the Astronomical Society of Kansas City set out to escape the city glow. Backed by a grant from the local Powell family, they constructed an observatory south of the metro inside Louisburg's Lewis-Young Park, where the night skies remained stubbornly, blessedly dark.
