The story
Meggy Wilm didn't start this operation in a centuries-old cathedral workshop; she launched it in 2017 sitting cross-legged on her Denver living room floor. In August 2022, she opened this studio in Suite D at 1500 Pearl Street, translating what usually feels like an intimidating medieval trade into a hands-on workshop tucked right off the downtown pedestrian strip.
Instead of heavy, traditional lead came, the studio teaches Louis Comfort Tiffany's copper-foil method. You pick sheets of colored glass, score the surfaces with a hand cutter, snap the edges cleanly, run them against a diamond-bit grinder, wrap every perimeter in adhesive copper tape, and run a hot iron to bleed molten solder down the seams.
It isn't just a classroom for pass-through visitors, either. The space serves as a dedicated glass supplier stocking raw sheets from over two dozen manufacturers—a rarity in Colorado—where local working artists stop in to grab specialized colors alongside beginners taking their first four-hour crash course.

You step off Pearl Street into a bright workroom lined with racks of stained glass sheets and heavy wood tables. During a four-hour beginner session or evening Date Night, you'll put on safety glasses, listen to the constant buzz of wet grinders, and smell the metallic tang of heated flux. Instructors hover nearby to correct your hand angle so you don't crush the glass while scoring. You walk out with a finished five-or-six-piece suncatcher—cut, soldered, washed, and polished by your own hands. Reserve your spot well in advance; class sizes are small and fill up fast.
