The story
Most TV actors leave their props on the backlot or let production sell off the stunt cars once the ratings slip. Ben Jones took a different path. After playing grease-stained mechanic Cooter Davenport on The Dukes of Hazzard, he decided the show's world didn't need to end when filming wrapped in 1985. Instead, he became the show's primary archivist, gathering its key vehicles and ephemera to build his own dedicated shrine tucked into a Music Valley strip near Opryland.
Step inside 2613B McGavock Pike and you are looking at an obsessive cast member's personal stash opened to the public. The centerpiece is the fleet: Cooter's tow truck (better known as "the wrecker"), Daisy's Jeep, Rosco P. Coltrane's patrol car, and an orange General Lee. Surrounded by script pages, show props, and walls of branded merchandise, it feels less like a slick corporate exhibit and more like a private garage run by a guy who simply refused to move past Hazzard County.
What it's like
You'll pull into a Music Valley shopping strip that feels locked in an earlier era of Nashville tourism. Inside, admission is completely free—they make their money on the massive retail floor crammed with t-shirts, DVDs, and Dukes novelties. The atmosphere is casual and unapologetically nostalgic, sometimes featuring live country performers on-site. Plan a weekday or morning visit if you want to inspect the cars and take photos on the General Lee's hood without navigating a crowd of road-trippers.
