The story

Whiskey Row has no shortage of polished, street-level tasting rooms pouring bourbon for the crowd on Main Street, but the real intrigue happens under the pavement. You have to slip down Washington Street into Whiskey Alley, hunting for an unmarked entrance that drops you straight down into a subterranean cavern beneath downtown Louisville. It is a deliberate blackout from the city above—a hidden, multi-room lounge carved into the historic foundations beneath Whiskey Row.

The room opens up into a dark, candlelit two-story library stacked with velvet seating and shadowy corners. Despite collecting national nods from the likes of *Vogue* and *Food & Wine*, it skips the tourist-trap antics, anchoring its reputation on serious mixology and rare single-barrel bourbon pours. Whether you order a 'Puttin' On The Spritz' or lean into a neat pour, the underground atmosphere keeps the rest of the city feeling miles away.
