REAL BODIES at Horseshoe Las Vegas

Twenty-plus actual preserved human bodies and 200+ additional specimens, dissected and plastinated to show circulatory, nervous, and skeletal systems in mid-motion poses, inside the lower level of Horseshoe (formerly Bally's).

The story

Head down to the lower level of Horseshoe—back when it was Bally's, before the casino rebrand—and you'll swap the neon carpet and ringing slot machines for a clinical gallery filled with the dead. REAL BODIES displays over 20 full human cadavers and more than 200 individual organs and tissue specimens, all preserved through plastination. Instead of lying flat on steel tables, these bodies are frozen mid-pose, peeled back layer by layer to reveal the raw mechanical architecture that keeps a human functioning.

The preservation process drains bodily fluids and fats, replacing them with liquid plastics that harden into rigid, odorless, indestructible anatomical maps. You can stand inches away from a dense, spiderweb-like mesh of red blood vessels, trace the delicate white threads of a nervous system branching down a spine, or compare a healthy pink lung to a blackened smoker's lung. It strips away all the usual Vegas spectacle to leave you face-to-face with human biology in its most literal form.

What it's like

The gallery atmosphere is muted, dark, and noticeably quieter than the casino floor directly above it. Because it sits on the lower level, crowds are generally light and move slowly, letting you take your time examining the specimens without feeling shoved along. It takes about 45 minutes to an hour to wander through the galleries. Once you've seen every muscle fiber and circulatory branch, head back upstairs to argue over which system floored you most over a drink at the Horseshoe sportsbook.

The move: Walk the galleries together and each pick the one system (nervous, muscular, circulatory) that floored you most, then argue it out over a drink at the sportsbook upstairs afterward.
