Indianapolis Salt Cave and Halotherapy Center
Housed inside a historic 1916 craftsman firehouse, this center features a cave filled with nine tons of imported Polish pink salt kept at a cool 60–65°F.
The story
You pull up to a quiet 1916 craftsman firehouse in Fort Harrison, but inside isn't fire equipment—it's nine tons of Polish pink salt imported and packed into an artificial cavern room. Kept at a crisp 60 to 65°F, the environment relies on microscopic pharmaceutical salt suspended in the dry, chilled air to clear your respiratory system while you rest.
Founder Stefanie Patterson repurposed the historic brick building into a specialized halotherapy center that sidesteps modern spa cliches. Instead of bright chrome or synthetic scents, you get raw crystal walls, soft pink ambient luminescence, and zero-gravity loungers stocked with heavy blankets.
What it's like
Leave your phone in a locker, pull on clean light-colored socks, and step onto the crushed-salt floor. Once you settle into a zero-gravity recliner under a thick throw, the halogenerator hums to life, grinding pure pharmaceutical salt into micro-particles that fill the cool air. If you book the hand and foot detox afterwards, you'll rest your feet directly onto glowing, slab-carved salt blocks heated to radiate warm mineral heat into your skin.
The move: Relax under warm blankets in zero-gravity loungers while breathing aerosolized pharmaceutical salt, followed by a hand and foot detox sitting with your feet on heated glowing pink salt blocks.

Good to know
What should I wear to the salt cave?
Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing and bring clean white or light-colored socks, as shoes aren't allowed inside the cavern. Since room temperatures are maintained between 60 and 65°F, wearing layers is recommended, though warm blankets are provided.
How long does a visit usually take?
A standard salt cave halotherapy session lasts about 45 minutes, but plan on 2 to 3 hours total if you add complementary experiences like the heated hand and foot detox.
What actually happens inside the cave?
You lie back in a reclined zero-gravity chair under warm blankets while a machine quietly pulverizes pharmaceutical-grade salt and disperses it into the air, allowing you to breathe in aerosolized salt in near-total silence.
