The Magical Druid

Run by two ordained Druid priests, this massive 5,000-square-foot spiritual hub is dedicated to Neopagan Druidry and earth-centered magic. The shop features hand-carved ritual tools, custom-engraved altar tiles, hand-poured herb-infused candles, and multiple reading rooms.

The story

In 2022, ordained Druid priests James "Seamus" Dillard and Rev. Michael J. Dangler moved their shop down North High Street into a massive 5,000-square-foot space that formerly housed a bike shop. Both trained through Ár nDraíocht Féin: A Druid Fellowship (ADF) and deeply rooted in Columbus's local Three Cranes Grove, Dillard and Dangler designed the expanded storefront not as a generic metaphysical retailer, but as a physical sanctuary and community gathering place operating under the ethos that all paths lead to the sacred center.

Inside, you won't find mass-produced plastic knickknacks. The inventory is heavily hand-crafted and functional: hand-carved wooden wands and staves, custom-engraved altar tiles, and hand-poured herb-infused candles sit alongside jars of raw bulk herbs, essential oils, tarot decks, and crystals. They also partnered with indie fragrance house Nui Cobalt Designs to blend their proprietary 'Cobalt Druid' line of perfume oils.

Beyond the sales floor and apothecary, the building houses dedicated reading rooms, spaces for energetic healing and spellwork consultations, and host space for community events like the annual Columbus Witches' Ball. Whether you are looking for an ordained minister for a custom handfasting, guidance from a death midwife, or simply a personalized spell kit, the owners run a working spiritual hub built for practicing pagans and curious seekers alike.

What it's like

Stepping inside from High Street, you are met with a calm, grounded atmosphere scented with dried herbs and burning incense. The staff and priests are notably friendly and unpretentious, making the shop welcoming whether you are looking for rare loose botanicals or simply browsing tarot cards for the first time. Parking is accessible via dedicated spots behind the building along with shared street parking, and visiting on a quiet weekday afternoon offers plenty of space to explore the reading rooms and apothecary shelves.

The move: Stop by to sniff their exclusive 'Cobalt Druid' line of indie perfumes (created in collaboration with Nui Cobalt Designs) and pick up a custom spell kit.
