A real metal sword mysteriously embedded deep inside a large boulder sitting on the front lawn of a local dental office.
The story
Sitting on the front lawn of a suburban dental office at 4589 Kenny Road rests a heavy boulder with a real metal sword driven straight into its center. It looks like a leftover prop from an Arthurian theater troupe, but nobody in Northwest Columbus has ever bothered to haul it away.
You didn't hear it from us, but the dental staff inside didn't forge Excalibur themselves. Back in 1993, local dentist Dr. Robert Garrison told a local paper that the blade and boulder were anchored in the turf by a previous landowner before he moved his practice into the building. He chose to leave the installation intact, and subsequent dental practices at the address have left the legend right where they found it.
What it's like
Pull into the office parking lot off Kenny Road, step onto the lawn, and take your turn gripping the hilt. The metal is jammed tight into the rock, so you won't be marching off as sovereign monarch of Kenny Road. It costs nothing to visit, takes less than five minutes, and doubles as a local PokéStop. Keep your photo session short and mindful of patients arriving for routine cleanings.
