The story

Drive past the Walgreens on North Circle Drive in Knob Hill and you’ll almost certainly roll right past Suite E. From the pavement of the strip mall, there’s zero indication that behind a generic glass storefront lies a 30-seat Norse longhouse drenched in dim amber lighting and raw timber. Drekar Meadery was built by local homebrewers who decided Colorado Springs didn't need another concrete taproom—it needed an old-world honey-wine hall tucked quietly into a suburban commercial strip.

The libations stay faithful to ancient mead craft, fermenting Colorado wildflower honey with local water, spices, and real fruit additions like raspberries and blackberries, along with barrel aging. You won't find cloying syrup here; batches range from crisp, dry traditional pours to complex melomels carrying names like Freya's Tears, Loki's Barb, and Ullr's Glory. You drink fermented honey out of tasting glasses while surrounded by wooden walls and board games stacked for public use.

Because the brewing operation and tasting hall share a tight footprint, the room remains intentionally snug. There are no blaring sports screens or fryers behind the counter—in fact, there's no kitchen at all. You're explicitly invited to bring your own feast. Pack a spread of cured meats and hard cheeses, claim a wooden table on a weeknight, and sip honey wine while plotting board game victories without the usual brewery noise.
